Herb in Co, I am so glad you joined in the blog. The photos and now this map are great additions! We need to add Port St Lucie & West Palm Beach, FL and New York City to the map. I think I'm beginning to get excited about the family reunion.
Herb, this is Aapril and I'm really excited about getting back in touch with you all. The pictures are great, I've got a lot of pictures of Mom's and you inspired me and I started looking at them all again. I found a few of you and your brothers and of course your parents.I told, I mean asked, the girls to show me how to put some of these on this site. As Cathy says this is really exciting.
Mom, You have definitely been down south too long. Plus you had it right the first time...you "told" us to show you how to put them on the site. Just picking on you. Cath
Mom, we'll have to talk about posting the pictures you have. We'll need a working scanner first...
Herb, I love the map. I'm not sure what program you're using for it, so I have two questions: Any chance of adding a name to the town, i.e. "Johnson City (Bobby)," or perhaps type of key so that we know who belongs where? Also, is the map hosted on a website somewhere? (If so, send me the link and I'll post it on the side links so that it is always accessible, rather than have it become hidden in the archives.) I really am so thrilled that you've joined us on the site -- you've added so much to it already!
If you can’t find a scanner, I’d be willing to help.
I made the map using Google Earth. It’s a free download at Get Google Earth. Go ahead and give it a try.
All the things you suggested are possible. The labels are easily edited. To get something out quickly, I am just taking a screen-shot and posting that picture on the blog. I bet we could figure out how to get a live link. I’ll give it some thought. Anyone else have any ideas?
Herb in Co & Sandi, I don't think blogspot is ready for the 2 of you combining your talents. Better warn everyone to hang on tight...this blog is gonna explode(!) with great stuff. {OK greatER stuff. It's pretty great all ready.}
Here are some more names to go with the cities. Port St Lucie - April West Palm Beach - Sandi (PJ & Rebecca) Boca Raton - Cathy (Orlando & Nyssa), Chey (Amy) New York City - Cari
I just added this post as a link (under the Family Calendar and the Family Tree, along the right side of the main page), so we'll always be able to find it. I was afraid that as new posts were added, this one would "disappear" into the archives. And it is way too cool not to be checked out regularly!
(Of course, Herb, that leaves the burden on you to keep the map updated... Thank you for doing this for us!)
Hi Herb, I have a couple more names for you. Robins daughters are in Wall, N.J. Renee and Bricktown, N.J. Rhonda . One son Ron is in Jackson, N.J. My son Herbie is in Bayville, N.J. Diane,s daughter Kelly is in Missouri City, Texas. I will send you a letter with who belongs to who, it can be confusing, there are a lot of us. take care Gail
Please visit us and check out the great new features, including chat services and an interactive calendar. We even have email available for anyone who would like it (yourname@ourfamilygathering.net).
