  • The rope swing
  • Summer rec at Allenwood School
  • Canoeing
  • Aunt Robin's special hugs
  • Uncle Herb's wild turtle ride
  • Cooking lessons with Gramma (Marion)
  • Gramma's (Marion's) softball rules
  • The Easter Egg Hunts
  • Halloween at Aunt April's
  • The Mini Winnie camping trips
  • Herbie's pony
  • Kelly and Sandi's bear
  • "Out! Out! Out!"
  • The Easter bunny on a motorcycle
  • Sledding on Lakewood Road

Please feel free to add to the list, or to tell the REAL story of any of your favorite memories!

Whenever I think of Grampop (Herb) the first thing I think of is his saying "Out! Out!! Out!!!", which was ALWAYS followed by "Hit the road!" I will never forget the first time he said it on Paynters Road in the "new" apartment. I turned around, walked down the stairs, across the parking lot and started hitting the road. :) After 3 hits, I looked up to the apartment and yelled "Is that hard enough?". I'll never forget the look on his face (surprise/pride).
I think that was the day he and I started growing closer to each other. I know after that he wasn't quite as gruff and scary.

I have some stories to add to some of them ,give me time. I have the picture of the Easter Bunny on the motorcle. I also learned to ride that bike at that Easter egg hunt, and went over the handle bars. I forgot where the brakes were ,didn,t want to hit the big tree, so turned the wheel as sharp as I could which was like stopping on a dime, I hit the ground hard, and boy did I have some puple bruises next day, collar bone, and chest. I still went out and got my license. LOL

yesterday I was walking across the court yard at work and a small plane towing one of those advertisment banners went by, it brought back a flood of memories. Saining at the kiddie beach, watching ball games at the kiddie beach, catching hermit crabs and drying out starfish. Taking lunch to grandpop at the boat dock. Talking about the storms and going to the beach with grandmom during the storms- I am sure that is why I STILL do that. In some odd way it brings comfort. I remember the acrylic fish and things the aunts got together and made at Aunt Aprils. The bat at Aunt Robins. Aunt Robin on her motorcycle. Aunt Robins spagetti sauce. Drives with grandmom to see the fall leaves. I remember cleaning and dancing to BARRY MANILOW and LEO SAYER at Aunt Gails! Remember Aunt Robin making us get out and walk sometimes! remember thinking we would never get all the sand off. Remember the Borrowers in Sandi and Cathy's closet and the barbie dolls under the bed coming to life at midnight! Cheering Uncle Herbie and the boys on in thier canoe races-Aunt Gail driving us to each point so we could get out and cheer them on then get back in the car and race to the next point. I understand all the Aunts and Uncles getting old but we are the kids! when, how did it happen to us? I cant wait til the family reunion, see yall then! Kelly
